Drinking water, also known as potable water or improved drinking water, is water safe enough for drinking and food preparation. Globally, in 2012, 89% of people had access towater suitable for drinking. Nearly 4 billion had access to tapwater while another 2.3 billion had access to wells or public taps.

POTABLE WATER :
Water that can be consumed in any desired amount without concern for adverse health effects is termed as potable water.
potable water is clear, colourless, pleasant to taste and is free from diseases, germs and impurities. It contains dissolved gases like oxygen, and carbon dioxide.
Water obtained from natural sources may contain impurities such as pollutants, dirt , germs. These impurities have to be removed from water to make it potable.
