shifting cultivation meant that the people we're moving from one place that is in forest and they were cutting trees and then burnt it and they were cultivating in that land and this was also known as slash and burn
after the harvesting of crop they moved to another place and similarly continued this tradition
this practice was regarded as harmful for the forest because cutting of trees led to deforestation
