Short-circuiting takes place when the live and neutral wires come in direct contact with each other. The Live wire and the neutral wire come in direct contact with each other.
This Happens due to damage to the insulation of the power lines, a fault in an electric appliance due to which current does not pass through it.
On account of short circuiting, resistance of the circuit decreased to a very small value and consequently the current becomes very large.
This Large current results in heating of live wire which produces sparking of the point of short-circuiting. This sparking sometimes cause fire in a building .
An Electric circuit is said to be overloaded if all the electric appliances in the circuit draw more current than the permitted limit. Overloading results in excessive heating .
The following are the characteristics of magnetic force :-
- Magnetic Force act only on moving charges and not on stationary charges.
- No Magnetic Force acts on a charge if it is moving along the direction of the magnetic field.
Think of current as the number of people who are walking along a road and shouting with the people behind them pushing the people in front to make them go faster.
Think of the heat generated by the current as the extent of noise created by the shouting men. Think of the circuit through which current
normally flows as a
