A wheel and axle arrangement consists of a wheel attached to a rod called axle , such that when the axle is made to rotate the wheel also rotates. In most wheel and axle arrangement the device that has to be turned is the axle , but axle cannot rotate without an aid , so the wheel is attached to it , which is easy to rotate. In some cases such as the rotating spindle tap , instead of a proper wheel , a handle is attached to it. So , the handle acts as a wheel when rotates. Screwdrivers , door knobs , drilling machines used by carpenters are few examples of wheel and axle arrangement.
