I cannot see clearly the question..in the diagram/picture...
Roughage is usually fibrous. The fibre is useful not in the digestion. As they do not have much food value. But in the intestines the food moves better when the food contains fibres. The intestine walls are cleaned and also the food moves in time towards the exit... The fibres also allow the food to mix, break the food by dividing that. Also fibres and roughage occupies space in the stomach. So one feels full after eating the required amount. Otherwise one tends to eat more.
If we don't include them, then there could be constipation, gas, indigestion...
