It is the difference between the temperature of the sea and the adjacent land causes the breeze. Since warm air is less dense and rises, whichever is warmer will have and up draft, causing a low pressure and air from the other will move towards the low pressure. On a sunny day the land heats faster than the sea and the breeze comes from the sea to the land. At night it is just the reverse.
