1.A sharp knife has a smaller area that comes in contact with the object and hence more pressure can be applied on the object. While a blunt knife has more area coming in contact than a sharp knife and the pressure exerted by the blunt knife will be less as compared to that of a sharp knife.

2.The tip of a sewing needle is sharpA wide steel belt is provided over the wheels of an army tank so that the force acting on the ground is increased which reduces the pressure that is acting on the ground. As the pressure decreases, there is a very less chance of the tank sinking inside the ground. because the area under the pointed end of the sharp needle is very small. Pressure exerted by a sharp needle is more on the cloth and can pierce easily through the cloth.
