because the earth acts as a magnet the south Pole is actually the north side of earth magnet the north pole is actually the south side of earth magnet so when we suspend a magnet it's south attract to the south Pole and North to North pole

Magnetic poles of earth are near the geographical North to South poles of the earth.
The south pole of the bar magnet is near geographical North pole while the north pole of bar magnet is near geographical south pole.
