Too much excess in water can lead to a decrease in transpiration as the plants absorb more amount of water than it is actually required by them and can even lead to the removal of soil layer at the top making the land less fertile than it was. So, water clogged land plants are the first to wilt if left to remain in excess of water for a long amount of time (also the transportation is harmed too).
