Explain why a rectangle is a convex quadrilateral.

Both diagonals lie in its interior, so it is a convex quadrilateral.

A rectangle has the following characteristics:-

(i) It has 4 sides, the opposite sides are equal & parallel to each other.

(ii) Each angle =90⁰.

So, under the above characteristics, if we join the opposite corners, the diagonals will lie entirely in the interior of the rectangle.

Moreover, all the angles are less than 180⁰.

These are the characteristics of convex polygons.

∴ A rectangle is a convex polygon.
