Explain why a wide steel belt is provided over the wheels of an army tank

because the belt has more area and henci less pressure is exerted on the wheels

Steel belt provided is flexible and stronger enough to manage the weight of tank. So as wheels of tank moves it gives support to wheels and move along with it for smooth round of tank.
