why frozen carbon is known as dry ice?

Frozen co2 is known as dry ice because when it is converted into a solid (-200°c)and melted , it sublimes or directly converts into a gas without the liquid state

since it sublimes without converting into water and even does not wet our palm when kept over it
thats why it is called dry ice
