explain why an antacid tablet is taken when you suffer from acidity

antacid tablet is normally anti-acid that is base .during acidity, the accumulation of excess acid in our stomach is increases which causes pain and irritation. so antacid being a base neutrilise the acid present in our stomach and make relief at all.
