◾Explain why an aqueous solution of sodium chloride is neutral while an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate is basic or alkaline ?
↪The Reason is Neutralization.
⭐NaCl or Sodium Chloride is a salt of a strong acid [ HCl ] and a strong Base [ NaOH ] . so it results in complete Neutralization , hence a neutral salt is formed .
⭐On the other hand ,Sodium Carbonate [ Na2CO3 ] is a Basic Salt . This is because it is formed by a Strong base [ NaOH ] and a weak acid [ H2CO3 ] .
Hence it results in in complete neutralization resulting in a Basic Salt .
