Most of the metals are not found in their free state because they are highly or moderately reactive in nature and reacts with other elements present in nature to form their particular oxides, carbonates, sulphides etc.
Metals can be extracted fron their ores by process of reduction(for oxides) calcination(for carbonates) and roasting (for sulphides). Metals like k Na Ca etc are generally found with their oxides whereas moderately reactive metals are found with their sulphides or carbonates.
But some less reactive metals like gold platinum silver are found in their free state in nature as they are not much reactive.

Answer:
Explanation:
most of the metals are found in the form of their compound it is because the position is above hydrogen in the chemical reactivity series and hence reatily react with air water and carbon dioxide etc
