Explain why cations are smaller and anions are larger

Because cations lose electrons hence they have smaller size and anions gains electrons so they have larger size

in cations, the no. of electon is less as compared to original atom. but in anion no. of electrons is more as compared to original atom. the size of anion becomes larger due to replusion between electrons present in anion.
