The reason why copper ions flow in a direction opposite to that of electrons during electrolysis of a copper sulphate solution can be explained as:
•Electrolysis is an electrochemical process in which current flows from one electrode to another in an electrolytic solution.
•When the electrolysis of copper sulphate solution is taken into consideration, copper ions are attracted towards the cathode and in cathode ,each copper ion takes electrons and becomes neutral copper atoms.
•This attraction is because unlike charges attract each other .
•Hence the copper ions which are positive are attracted towards cathode which is negative .
