Explain why dams have broad walls at the bottom than upwards ?

because water falls from up to down forsly and if at the bottom their is broad walls then water will not move out and their will not be any have flood.

There may be two reasons for this answer:
1) The deeper the water, the higher the pressure. Hence, the walls of a dam are broad at the bottom so that the walls must not burst.
2) More the area, lesser the pressure. So, to reduce the pressure on the ground, the walls are made thicker at the bottom.
