explain why does isopentane have a lower boiling point as compared to that of n-pentane ?

isopentane is in a branched chain whereas n-pentane is very flat and has a lot of surface are for van der waals forces to take effect. these forces hold together n-pentane molecules to one another requiring more heat in order to "boil"
