Bromine water decolourises unsaturated compounds.Ethene contains double bond and hence it is unsaturated.It reacts with Br to give colourless compound whereas ethaneis saturated compound. ... but Ethane is a saturated hydrocarbon. So it does not Decolourise bromine water.
