Handspan is not used as a measurement of length. Because the handspan is not a standard value and it is not a standard quantity. The handspan is different for different persons. It changes from person to person. There is no standard value for hand span.
To measure a unit we must need a standard value and a standard quantity.
For ex: Take a meter.
The value of meter is standard. It does not change.

But handspan changes. So, handspan is not used for measuring length.

Hope my answer helps you.

Explanation:

Handspan and cubit cannot be used as a standard unit of length . This is because these are not particular measurements . ... This is because the distance between them is very large and milimeters are a very small unit of length . It can be measured in larger units of length like kilometers .
