explain why ice at 0 degeree is more effective in cooling than water at the same temperature

Because ice at that position will first get converted into water which is at zero degree ..where's as the water is already existing at that stage and hence the ice will be more effective in cooling as it will take time to melt first at 0 ..and then resulting decrease in temperature ..it takes time and thus gives more cooling effect
