People have known of sulfur, gold and carbon for thousands of years because;

1.Sulfur is a chemical element with an atomic number as 16, and is said to be the least reactive element and hence has been known by the people. It was earlier used in the manufacturing of fertilizers and even for vulcanization of natural rubber.

2. Gold is a chemical element with an atomic number as 79 and is one of the higher atomic number elements that occur naturally. It is solid under standard conditions. Gold is generally used as the source of making of ornaments.

3. Carbon is a chemical element with an atomic number as 4 and is the 15th most abundant element on the earth's crust and 4th most abundant element on the universe by mass. It was earlier used as heat resistant devices.
