In deserts the climate is very hot and amount of rainfall is very low. If the plants will take Co2 during day, lots of water will be loss, so to prevent loss of water they take co2 during night.......

Some plants in the dessert take up carbon dioxide at night, synthesize organic intermediates and use them in the daytime through a pathway which is known as Crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM).
CAM is also observed among certain non-desert residing plants. When a plant opens its stomata to take in carbon dioxide, some amount of water is lost. This is not beneficial for the plants in the hot and arid conditions of the desert.
Hence, certain plants have developed CAM pathway through which it takes up CO2 at night, converts it to malic acid and stores in the vacuoles to be utilised in the day.
