Radium salts have a unique property of glowing in dark. Radium is radioactive and spontaneously emits radiation. As a result, when radium is in Dark, it ionizes the surrounding air emitting a green light. This glow does not sustain for long. Zinc sulphide is added to sustain this glow for long.
