Fossil fuels on earth are renewable, but they require thousands, probably millions of years for formation. Also, they are not replenished continuously. So they may exhaust at some point in the future. Coal will probably exhaust by around 2100, and oil by around 2050 [these are approx. figures which I remember, I am not sure] if it is used at the current rates. Burning of all kinds of fossil fuels causes air pollution by the addition of CO and PM. Also, CO2 is produced by combustion of fossil fuels. This promotes global warming. Global warming causes climate change, and so on. There are many substitutes to fossil fuels. Electricity can be generated by using water, uranium, solar, wind or tides. Vehicles can be powered by electricity and batteries.
