For a given two surface, sliding friction is slightly lesser than that of the static friction because it is easy to move the object which already in motion than the object which is at rest.

- Sliding friction is less than the static IP friction because, the sliding friction is in motion whereas static friction is on a single place
- In sliding friction the bond formed between the objects when they are in contact are very less. Where as in static friction the bondes formed are much more as it is in one place for some time
- As the bonds formed are not very much so to break them is a easy task but in static friction it is little harder as there are much more bonds
- Therefore in sliding friction the force required is less than static friction or sliding friction is less than static friction
