It is due to surface tension. Due to this inside pressure is grrater than outside pressure. Also do surface tension the area of the drop becomes small and speherical. But when gravitational pull is more it tries to neglect the surface tension and hence due to this drop becomes large and flat since surface tension decreases and area of drop increases.
