Solids are rigid because the intermolecular forces of attraction that are present insolids are very strong. The constituent particles of solids cannot move from their positions they can only vibrate from their mean positive.

The intermolecular force between the particles of solid is very high and the constituents particle in solid have fix position and can only oscillate about their mean position .Hence solids are rigid
