explain why speed and velocity is same in linear motion?

Velocity means the change in direction... Along a straight line there is no change in direction so both speed and velocity woul be same!

bcz speed = distance /time and velocity= displacement/time & if a body travel in linear path then its displacement & distance will be equal . & hence speed = velocity
