hi there,
temperature remains constant during the melting of ice because temperature is suppplied for changing the state of matter. the heat is used by particles of ice and they break the force of attraction and converted into liquid.
hope it helps..

Hi friend,
During the process of melting the heat that we provide is to change the state of matter and that heat is being used by the particles of the matter to break down the force of attraction and not to raise the temperature. So as the heat is used by the molecules to break the force of cohesion so the temperature remains constant and the matter changes to liquid.
That's all.
Hope it helps.......
