Explanation:

because burning of paper releases gas whereas boiling of water turns the water into vapour

The burning of paper is an irreversible change or chemical change because of the materials used for creating heat and materials in the paper. So once the paper gets heated or burnt, the materials change their state from solid to gas. Now like ice you may think that the paper performed the process of sublimation but this is not true because the paper is not made up of water, so it does not melt, sublimate or freeze.

Now, boiling of water is reversible because water has the properties in which it can perform the following steps:

  • boiling
  • freezing
  • condensation

So, whatever you do to water (heating, boiling, etc) it will not change its inside properties, only its shape or physical properties will change to form a reversible or physical change.

Hope this is helpful for all.
