Break-even is the point at which the income and cost are equal which means  there is neither profit nor loss . It mainly  identifies the sales volume or value where a business neither makes a profit or loss in that financial year.

A blood bank is a place where blood is stored and later used for transfusion purpose or for proper testing.

A blood bank needs break-even because it is basically used for a non profit purpose and break-even occurs where there is no profit or loss so it is understandable that blood banks would want to use the concept.

Concept of blood breakdown products is very essential in case of blood bank as it can threaten the blood safety.

The blood breakdown product is re-circulated in the body.

The hem part of hemoglobin is broken into the iron and biliverdin.

The bilirubin is produced from biliverdin that is released into plasma and re-circulated to liver.
