The connecting wires of an electric heater are made up of a material having low resistance to allow current to pass through them. Whereas the heater element is made up of special wire having high resistance. Due to this, the power in the element gets dissipiated in the form of heat and the element gets heated.

This happens because the connecting wires are pefectly insulated and offer very low resistance to the flow of current
