Landowners attempted to raise earnings from wool production by encompassing fields for raising sheep. From 18th-century enclosures system regulated towards cultivation.
Landowners started fortifying their disseminated holdings into enclosed fields which were fenced. Later common pasturage lands were also started to be enclosed resulting in the disappearance of common land for yeilding grater profits. This enclosure system resulted in the commercialization of farming.
