∴ the electronic configuration is  as follows

1s² 2s² 2p³

subshell s have the capacity of 2 electrons. Hence both the subshells got completed by taking 2 electrons each. the remaining electrons are 7 - (2+2) = 3. The next shell 2p has the capacity of 6 electrons so the 3 electrons are transferred to the subshell 2p which helps to become a half filled subshell.

Hence there are 3 electrons present in the 2p subshell of nitrogen.
