explain why the tip of a sieving needle is sharp

Explanation:

Because area and pressure are inversely proportional to each other . It means that if u increase the area , there will be less pressure and if u decrease the area , there will be more pressure . The tip of the needle has very less area i.e. it is sharp so that it can pierce through the cloth .
