Answer :

Aristotle's Classification -

  • Aristotle attempted to classify organisms in a scientific basis the first time.
  • He classified plants into trees, shrubs and herbs on the basis of morphological characters.
  • He classified animals on the basis of blood that is red blooded and non red blood.
  • This attempt of classification was not successful as it did not differentiate organisms in a proper manner.
  • There many other characteristics which were under the organisms of the same group.

Linnaeus Kingdom Classification -

  • This classification is also called as two kingdom classification.
  • This system classified into two kingdoms namely plantae and animalia.
  • The drawbacks of this classification is as follows -
  1. The prokaryotic organisms and eukaryotic organisms were included under plants. They were included under plants because of the presence of cell wall but their widely different from plants in other features.
  2. Themulticellular organisms and the unicellular organisms were included in the same group. Like for example Chlamydomonas and spirogyra were under same group.
  3. It did not differentiate between heterotrophic fungi and autotrophic green plants. Fungi has chitinous cell wall while the green plants have cellulosic cell wall.
