While we are proving or verifying a trigonometric identity, we do not need to square each side of the equation. This is so because if we are squaring each side of the equation, It means that the identity already exists and there is nothing to prove then.

You can't square both sides of the equation when solving a trigonometric identity because on squaring it will imply that we already know that the relation holds true( i.e. we know the thing already that we are give to prove) and then we will have nothing to prove further.
