Answer:

Spermatogenesis refers to formation of male gametes ( "Genesis" refers to "formation").

Now, you should remember that spermatogenesis consists mainly of

4 stages.

The stages are:

1. Spermatocytogenesis

2. 1st Meiotic division

3. 2nd Meiotic division

4. Spermiogenesis

1. Spermatocytogenesis refers to formation of well grown, differentiated cells from spermatogonia cells. There ploidy is 2n.

2. Primary Spermatocyte undergo 1at Meiotic division to form Secondary Spermatocyte. There ploidy is n.

3. Secondary Spermatocyte undergo second Meiotic division to form spermatids. There ploidy is n.

4. The spermatids undergo certain changes to form Spermatozoa ( Sperms). They also have n ploidy.

Now refer to the attached file to understand better.

Answer:

spermatogenesis is the process of formation of spermatozoa in the seminiferous tubules of testis. The wall of siniferous tubules is lined by cuboidal spermatogonia (male germ cell) and columnar Sertoli cells.

Spermatogonia are derived from primordial germ cells .

At puberty spermatogonia divide to form spermatozoa and Sertoli cells provide nourishment to developing sperms.

Sertoli cells form "blood testes barrier" and protect the sperm from immune system of the body.

Spermatogenesis is divided into three stages

1.Multiplication Phase

2.Growth Phase

3.Maturation Phase

Maturation phase is the longest phase.
