Dear Student,
â—† ABO blood group system -
• Carl Landsteiner classified blood groups according to presence/absence of antigens A & B on RBCs.
- Group A have A antigen.
- Group B have B antigen.
- Group AB have both A & B antigen.
- Group O have no antigens.
# Group O is called universal donor because -
- Group O doesn't have any antigens on its RBCs.
- So our immune system system doesn't react to RBCs of O blood group as there is no antigen.
- As this blood can be given to person with any blood group, person with O blood group are universal donor.
Thank dear...
