hello,
Affixation is the formation of words by adding derivational affixes to different types of bases. An affix is not-root or a bound morpheme that modifies the meaning and / or syntactic category of the stem in some way. Affixes are classified into prefixes and suffixes.
Example:
Prefix
anti- (against or opposite) ... dis- (lack of, apart, reversal, or not)
Suffixes
-able (able to, susceptible of, or given to) portable
-ible (able to be or relevant to) incomprehensible
Compound words are formed when two or more words are joined together to create a new word that has an entirely new meaning. For example, “sun” and “flower” are two different words, but when fused together, they form another word, Sunflower or “make up” and “makeup”.
Hope this helped !!
