Such traits are called acquired traits. Acquired traits are experienced by an individual during his lifetime. These traits involve changes in non reproductive cells (somatic cells) which are not transferred to germ cells. So, these traits cannot be passed on to the next generation

Our genes carries the phenotypic and genotypic characters.Any change that takes place in gene will be passed onto next generation.

How characters like manner, intelligence cannot be inherited they developed .Another example is tail of mice if it gets cut accidentally doesn't mean it's offspring also don't have a tail.
