It means to be successful, you can't be virtuous(having or showing high moral standards) at the same time. Answer : The phrase 'that virtue and success do not go side by side' has been taken from the poem 'The Person I Am Looking For ' by Hazara Singh.

The wise saying might be irksome for some, but if we see this from a practical perspective it is agreeable to some extent. For example, most of the corporates brag about their virtues, honesty and empathy towards their customers, but in real world they cannot please and appease every other person. The most successful corporates have a long history of customer rights denial and ruthless behavior towards their employees especially labor class. This famous saying might sound a bit harsh and selfishly but let's face it, practically it is true.

Taslimaaa: r you agree with this statement
AadilPradhan: yes, unwillingly but I agree as it is truth.
