The bond formed by transfering one or more eletrons from a metallic , electro - positive element to a non-metals , electro -negative element is known as IONIC BOND .

Also , Bond formed between metals and non-metals are known as ionic bond.



Eg : NaCl , MgCl2

Ionic means transfer of electrons

it takes place between 2 dissimilar elements


to make u easily understand

i will give u a example

snighda has 12 rupees ,she want to buy a pen which cost 10 rupees

crystal has 13 rupees, she want to buy a pen which cost 15 rupees

so snighda give her extra 2 rupees to crystal

so snighda transfer 2 rupees

instead of taking rupees ,take electrons,so electrons get transferred.
