The Heart has four chambers :-

  • Two Upper atria
  • The Receiving chambers
  • Two Lower ventricles
  • The Discharging chambers

The Atria open into the ventricles via the atrioventricular valves, present in the atrioventricular septum.

This distinction is visible also on surface of the heart as the coronary sulcus.

The Heart is enclosed in a pericardial sac that is lined with the parietal layers of a serous membrane.

The External Heart wall has three layer :-

  • The Inner Endocardium
  • The Middle Myocardium
  • The Outer Epicardium.

These are surrounded by a double - membraned sac called the pericardium.

Receives blood from the right atrium via the tricuspid valve during diastole.

It is responsible for moving deoxygenated blood to the lungs for oxygenation and CO2 elimination.
