Let the given decimal be x .

Thus ,

x = 0.333... ---------(1)

Now ,

Multiplying both sides of eq-(1) by 10 ,

We get ;

=> 10x = 10 × 0.333....

=> 10x = 3.333.... ---------(2)

Now ,

Subtracting eq-(1) from (2) , we get ;

=> 10x - x = 3.333.... – 0.333....

=> 9x = 3

=> x = 3/9

=> x = 1/3

=> 0.333.... = 1/3 { °•° x = 0.333.... }

Required answer is 1/3 .
