Explanation:

As we all know matter exists in 3 phases.

Solid

Liquid

Gas

So when matter is heated up the phase or so called state changes.

For example :- H2O in the solid form is ice. In liquid form it is water. And in gas state it is vapour.

So when ice is heated it changes to water, if further heat is given it becomes vapour.

Now consider reverse. When vapour is condensed it becomes water and if further condensed it becomes ice.

So changing of matter from one form to another is phase changing.

Explanation:

  • The term phase transition is most commonly used to describe transitions between solid, liquid, and gaseous states of matter, as well as plasma in rare cases. A phase of a thermodynamic system and the states of matter have uniform physical properties.
