Express the following rational numbers as decimals:
(i) 2/9 (ii) -(4/9) (iii) -(2/15) (iv) -(22/13) (v) 437/999 (vi) 33/26

We can express the following rational numbers as decimals by long division method :

Long division method is in the attachment below :  

(i) Mistake in the question it is ⅔.

⅔ = 0.6666…...

(ii) - (4/9) = - 0.4444……

(iii) -(2/15) = - 0.133333…..

(iv) -(22/13) = - 1.6923076923….

(v) 437/999 = 0.437437...

 

(vi) 33/26 = 1.269230769….

Extra information :  

On dividing a rational number (p/q) p by q, if remainder becomes zero then the decimal expansion is terminating and if remainder never becomes zero and set of digits repeats periodically then the decimal expansion is non terminating repeating decimal. It is also known as non terminating recurring decimal expansion.
