Concept

A Line in geometry is a 1 - Dimensional figure which has just length but no width. A line is made by joing two points.

Given

3x - 4 = 5y

Find

1) Convert this equation in ax + by + c=0

2) Find the value of a + b + c

Solution

3x - 4 = 5y

Equation of line is ax + by + c = 0..................(1)

So

3x - 5y - 4 = 0 is the equation of line

Comparing equation of line with (1) we get

a  = 3

b = - 5

c = - 4

a + b + c = 3 -5 -4

a + b + c = - 6

Value of a + b + c = - 6
